Born in Ranchi, India, Alka Roy has a degree in engineering and an MFA in creative writing from Bennington College. She is a dancer and performance artist who has served on boards of various nonprofit organizations and writes interviews and articles for a local Atlanta-based magazine. Her works have appeared in Passages North, Praxis, Alhamra Review, Del Sol Review, The Flying Island, Radical History Review, Linen Weave, Phoebe, NUVO Newsweekly, Khabar, Juked and Wire Sandwich. Her translations and translation related paper appears in the anthologies Modern Poetry of Pakistan (Dalkey Archive Press, 2011) and Role of Translation in Nation Building. She recently completed a graphic short story and is playing with poetry videos and wants to collaborate with more musicians and artists.
